The Gospel Is the Power of God That Brings Salvation

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. — Romans 1:16

The gospel is the power of God.

It brings salvation to everyone who believes.

Therefore, I am not ashamed of the gospel.

The gospel is given first to the Jew and then to the Gentile.

God's creation is given to everyone.

And it shows us His glory.

To Live Is Christ

I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. — Philippians 1:20-21

Today is the start of Rosh Hashanah, where people begin reflect on God's goodness and and thank Him for the blessings He gives us.

I am blessed by a wonderful family and good Christian friends.

We hosted a fellowship group last night.

Several people were not able to make it, but we had a great time with the couple who did come.

We ate delicious appetizers, caught up with each other, shared the latest news about our kids, and took turns reading and listening to Philippians together.

We talked about the sermon our pastor gave Saturday night and the action steps we would plan to take.

And we thanked God for our blessings.

I Will Turn to the Lord

All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations. — Psalm 22:27-28

I don't always remember to to turn to God. When things are going along great, I get distracted and busy. Somehow God gets pushed aside. He becomes more of an afterthought.

Forgive me, Lord, for not putting you first. You rule over the nations, but at times I don't let you rule over my life.

I'm sorry and ashamed. Thank you that all of the ends of the earth turn to you. Please help me to turn to you, too.

Remind me to bow down before you, giving you dominion in my life and my plans. Inviting you to guide me in the ways you would have me go. Help me turn to you each morning.
