Night and Day I Remember You

I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. — 2 Timothy 1:3

Happy September!

The start of a new month and fall is almost upon us.

You would never know by the heat we've been having lately.

San Diego tends to be hot in September and October, just in time for students to go back to school.

We have had lots of answers to prayer this week.

My friend who has four kids was able to find a new place to live.

Her friends helped her move in - they organized their youth group to help her get her things from her old house to her new.

It's quite a bit farther away, but it was affordable and had room for them all.

She had been looking for the last two months so we are praising God for providing.

Nigh and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 

Serve the Living God

How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? — Hebrews 9:14

Christ was the perfect sacrifice.

He had no sin, no blemish.

He was perfect.

And He offered Himself for me.

His blood cleansed me from death.

As a result, I'm alive to serve the living God.

Draw Near to God

Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. — Hebrews 10:22

Our hearts have been sprinkled with water from baptism by the Holy Spirit..

Our bodies have been washed with pure water from baptism to cleanse us from our guilty conscience.

So we are able to draw near to God with a sincere heart.

He has given us the full assurance that faith brings.

The Goal Is Love

The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. — 1 Timothy 1:5

God tells us that love comes from a pure heart,

A good conscience,

And a sincere faith.

At times it's hard to show love to others.

Especially when they are unkind or unloving.

But God's love is not conditional.

He does not ask us to wait until people are considerate of us.

He commands us to love them first, just as He loved us.

We love, because He first loved us.
