The Secret of Being Content

I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. — Philippians 4:12 


In every situation, I am learning to be content.

Paul is a good example of contentment.

He learned the secret of being content in all situations.

Even when he was hungry or in want, he was content.

Help me to be the same.

Today is the last day of April this year.

Thank you, Lord, for another month.

Be Content With What You Have

 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." — Hebrews 13:5 


It's not always easy to be content with what we have.

God has blessed us immensely more than we could ask or imagine.

Today Kirk played one of his best golf games yet.

He played at Admiral Baker North this morning.

It's hard to believe just two weeks ago he was in the hospital.

God has blessed us with healing.

Put on Love

So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. — Colossians 3:14 The Message


God asks us to put on love every day, just as we put on clothes for the day ahead.

When we put on His Fruit of the Spirit, He helps us get through the day with contentment.

God chose us for this new life of love.

He gives us the wardrobe we need to succeed at life.

Kindness, quiet strength, self-disciplines, humility.

These are not easy to come by.

It is only with God's help that we can get dressed and ready to face the day ahead.

Trusting in God

God, you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises. In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them. To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame. — Psalm 22:3-5

Today I attended Social Media Marketing World for my company. It was held the San Diego Convention Center. 

I met some very friendly writers, bloggers, social media specialists, content creators, videographers, coaches, marketing strategists and vendors. 

I even met an entrepreneur from Louisiana, where I lived during high school. We reflected on the laid-back attitude and slower pace of life there.

Although there were many different tracks at this conference, those attending were all there to learn more about their fields and to grow in their areas of specialty.

I realize that God wants me to grow, too. He has a wonderful plan for my life, and He wants to guide me to take part in His plan. He wants me to trust that He knows what He's doing and I don't.

Just as my ancestors put their trust in God, I'm learning to do the same. It's hard to do, and I'm not always very good at it. Even so, God hasn't given up on me.

Thank you, Lord, that when I cried out, you saved me!
