God's Commands Give Me Delight

Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight. — Psalm 119:143 

Even when troubles come our way, we know that God is in control.

He holds my life in His hands.

And He cares for me as a loving Father.

The commands of His Word are a joy.

And they give me delight.

They also challenge me each day.

Trouble and distress have come upon me.

Even so, God's commands give me comfort and delight.

My friend's sister died last week after a long struggle with cancer.

Another friend lost her brother earlier this month.

Another had to put her father-in-law in hospice - he fell while in the hospital.

Grief is all around us.

Trouble and distress surround us.

But God's commands give us delight.

Tonight we used these small pumpkins to create succulent gardens.

God's creation gives us delight.

May the Lord Answer You

May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. — Psalm 20:1

Saturday morning I met some friends and we hiked around Santee Lakes.

It was a beautiful morning, and we met some friendly people along the way.

We saw lots of ducks and some geese.

A fun morning to be outdoors.

And to thank God for His wonderful creation.

I Call on the Lord

I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me.  — Psalm 120:1

God knows what I need before I even ask.

Still, when I call on Him, He answers me.

He doesn't always answer in the way I expect.

But He sees the big picture and knows what's best for me.

I call on Him in my distress.

He answers me when I cry to him.

He loves me!

The Lord Answered Me

Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free. — Psalm 118:5

When I am in distress, I sometimes forget to call on God.

I try everything else first.

Then, almost as a last resort, I ask for God's help and guidance.

What's wrong with this picture?

God always answers me.

He sets me free from my worry and doubt.

So why can't I remember to call on Him first?

Heal me Lord, help my unbelief.
