The Gift of God Is Eternal Life

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. — Romans 3:23 

Today we were blessed with two rainbows in the sky on our drive to church.

A reminder of God's promise to never flood the whole earth again.

And a reminder that God always keeps His promises.

His gift to us is eternal life.

Through His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Who gave Himself for each of us.

So that we might live with Him in heaven one day.

It Is By Grace We Have Been Saved

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast. — Ephesians 2:8-9 

Last night we had a fun evening with some of Kirk's high school buddies.

And our friends from Arkansas.

We sat outside in Little Italy and caught up with people we hadn't seen for a couple of years or more.

And it was a beautiful San Diego evening.

Kirk got lots of compliments on his shirt.

It is by grace we have been saved through faith.

Not from ourselves but fromt he gift of God.

The Gift of God Is Eternal Life

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. — Romans 6:23 

God's gift to us is eternal life.

And it is ours for the asking through Christ Jesus.

When we accept Jesus as our Lord, He give us eternal life.

And we can live forever in heaven with God.

We really deserve death as payment for our sin.

But God give us the free gift of eternal life in Christ.

Saved By Grace

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. — Ephesians 2:8-9 

We have been saved by grace through faith in Jesus.

Nothing we could do ourselves.

It is the gift of God, not from ourselves.

Not by works or anything we can do.

We have nothing to boast in except God and His Son Jesus.

Grace Was Given

 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. — Ephesians 4:7

Yesterday Kirk and I both got our vaccines.

We slept in today, but I'm feeling great.

A slightly sore arm, and I keep rubbing it to help the vaccine move through my body.

Kirk isn't up yet, so we'll see how he's doing.

Hopefully just as well as I am.

We are thankful for those who volunteered to give it to us

As well as for those who made it possible to have it available so quickly.

The Gift in You

Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy when the elders laid their hands on you  Think on these things. Devote your life to them so that everyone can see your progress. — 1 Timothy 4:14-15

God has given us the gift of His Holy Spirit.

He asks us to use our talents for Him.

Then He commands us to think on these things.

And to devote our lives to them.

Our lives should showcase the glory of God.

Everyone should be able to see our progress.

Praise be to the Lord.

Today Abby and I went for a walk around our neighborhood.

Caution tape is still on all of the park benches and playground equipment, but at least we can stroll along the paths now.

The clouds overhead kept moving in and out, giving us a nice cool breeze alternating with hot sun.

Just as we would get too warm, another cool breeze would come our way and the clouds would cover the sun for a few minutes.

God is that warm sun in my life.

Just as the cool breeze of cares of the world come my way, God pushes aside the clouds so I can feel His warmth surrounding me.

It was just a year ago that Abby was graduating from college.

This week she starts the summer session of her graduate school.

She is disappointed to have to take online classes this term instead of in-class or zoom meetings.

But we are glad to have her home, and we feel her undergraduate season finished just in time.

God has given us the gift of eternal life.

He is merciful.

Beautiful Birthday Roses

Live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. — 1 Timothy 2:2

Beautiful birthday flowers from my sweet husband.

Of course, they arrived at work on the one day I decided to work at home this week!

But my thoughtful coworkers took pictures for me and even carried them up to my desk.

I was able to enjoy them in person the next day when I returned to the office.

Such a gorgeous and aroma-filled gift.

And my coworkers took me out to lunch to celebrate.

I am blessed to have such caring family members and friends.

By Grace

Here is the beautiful orchid garden that our friend Edna gave us for our anniversary.

Lots of wonderful plants included along with the orchid plant.

It looks wonderful in our home.

A beautiful reminder of our friendship.

And a tribute and testimony to God's creation.

It is by His grace we have been saved, through faith.

This is not something we could do for ourselves.

Rather, it is the precious gift of God.

We could never do enough good works to get us there.

Our sin separates us from God. We cannot come into His presence since we are sinful and He is holy.

We cannot boast — we are completely indebted to God.

We are saved through faith in His Son, our Lord Jesus.

Spring Flowers

See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come. — Song of Solomon 2:11-12
 
These are the beautiful flowers that Kirk's colleague Amy sent to us, wishing Kirk a restful Easter break.

They still look beautiful as they add a pop of color to our living room.

And they looked wonderful gracing one of our tables for Easter dinner on Saturday. What a thoughtful gift!

I continue to feel good, no nausea, just a bit tired. I fell asleep when our friend Rudy came over Sunday. But fortunately I stayed awake long enough to admire his amazing photos from his last trip to Japan.

And I was still up to take a call from Abby so we could catch up before the day ended.

The season of singing has come!
