The Lord Is Faithful in All He Does

For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. — Psalm 33:4-5

Today is our friend Edna's birthday.

She has been an active prayer warrior for our family over the years.

When I was diagnosed with cancer, she had her church create this beautiful quilt for me.

The congregation tied prayer knots in each square and prayed for me.

Our neighbors were surprised at church that Sunday when they discovered the quilt they were praying over was for me!

That was five years ago, and today I'm either in remission or cured.

Praise God for strong friends such as Edna who covered me in prayer and showered Kirk and me with love.

We are blessed.

Seek Good, Not Evil

Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph. — Amos 5:14-15

God is with us.

And He calls us to seek good, not evil.

Even stronger, to hate evil and love good.

Maintain justice.

And perhaps God will have mercy on us as He had on the remnant of Joseph.

Kirk has been suffering from a cough for the past nine days, poor guy.

Abby and I are now healthy.

We pray for his recovery and for sleep.

Lend Freely

Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice. — Psalm 112:5

God commands us to be generous to others.

To lend freely,

To conduct our affairs with justice.

And this comes with a promise - that good will come to those who do this.

But sorrow will also come our way.

This weekend Kirk had two friends who lost their elderly parents.

We both know how hard that can be.

Kirk took the opportunity to share some favorite Scriptures.

And he sent a link to The Chosen.

God will come to those who turn to Him.

The Word of the Lord Is Right and True

For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. — Psalm 22:4-5

God's Word is right and true.

He is faithful in all He does.

The Lord loves righteousness.

God love justice.

The earth is full of His unfailing love.

Seek Good, Not Evil

Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts.  — Amos 5:14-15

God commands us to look for good that we may live.

Then the Lord will be with us.

God asks us to hate evil and love good.

To maintain justice in the courts.

To love our neighbors as ourselves.

Rejoice!

Good Will Come to the Generous

Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice. — Psalm 112:5

God asks us to be generous and lend what we have to others.

He calls us to be just and fair.

And to consider others, not just ourselves.

Our Crape Myrtle is blooming now.

Reminding us of God's creation.

And His love and care for us.

He is generous in His mercy and grace.

God Loves Righteousness

The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. — Psalm 33:5

Yesterday morning we hiked Iron Mountain.

It started off chilly, but by the time we reached the summit, the sun had come out en force.

Very fun hike with girlfriends of all ages.

And a gorgeous day.

It gave us a chance to catch up on our lives.

We talked about some of the books we've enjoyed.

Some of my favorites include, "The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet," "Caleb's Crossing" and "The Music Shop."

And from elementary school, "The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler."

The Lord loves righteousness and justice.

The earth is full of His unfailing love.

Do What Is Right

Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed. — Isaiah 56:1

Tonight we watched the final episode of WandaVision.

Abby and I went to Starbucks and ordered a WandaVision Frappuccino from their secret menu.

Fortunately, Abby brought the recipe so we could read it to the barista.

I asked them not to mix in the strawberry so it would show on the side of the cup.

They did a great job.

Kirk and I tried this one before I got the photo taken.

Then I managed to finish it off.

The Earth Is Full of God's Love

The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. — Psalm 33:4

God loves justice.
His name is righteousness.
He delights in mercy and goodness.
These are not easy characteristics for us to model.
The earth is full of his unfailing love.
He fills us with good things.
This is the sunset we had just two days ago.
Amazing.

Love Good

Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice. — Amos 5:15

God calls us to hate evil.

And to love good.

As sinful creatures, that is not always easy.

He also commands us to establish justice.

That is easy for those we care about.

It's more difficult to establish justice with these we don't respect.

But even when people treat us badly, we are commanded to be just and love good.

Thankfully, God can help us to do just that.

Love Kindness

He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?  — Micah 6:8

God has shown us what is good.

He is perfect and good Himself.

He does not ask us to give Him sacrifices or offerings.

Rather, He asks us to do justice.

To love kindness.

To walk humbly with God.

God Secures Justice

I know that the Lord secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy. Surely the righteous will praise your name, and the upright will live in your presence. — Psalm 140:12-13

My Friday Bible study group is reading The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis.

We have been having great discussions about the various ghosts who appear in each chapter.

The participants range in age and interests, and we bring a variety of points of view, which makes for very interesting conversations.

Several of us also enjoy hiking in our spare time.

I'm building up my strength so I can get back up Cowles Mountain this fall when it's not quite so hot.

I've started jumping rope again a few times a week.

That has helped with my breath support, too!

In two weeks, when choir starts, that will come in very handy.
