Be Sympathetic

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. — 1 Peter 3:8

God calls us to be like-minded with Him.

And to be sympathetic to those around us.

Even when we disagree.

To love one another — even our enemies.

The Lord calls us to be compassionate toward others.

Even when they don't extend that compassion to us.

And God asks us to be humble, especially in times when we start to puff ourselves up.

Be Sympathetic

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. — 1 Peter 3:8

God asks all of us to be like-minded.

And he wants all of us to be sympathetic to others.

Instead of comparing ourselves or exalting ourselves over others, the Lord commands us to humble ourselves.

He calls us to love one another, even those unlovely people we meet.

To be compassionate with others, even when they aren't compassionate with us.

We are blessed that He is compassionate and loving with us.

And God is compassionate with me, even when I'm unlovely and undeserving of His love.

Be Sympathetic

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. — 1 Peter 3:8

It's not always easy to be sympathetic toward others.

But God commands us to be like-minded and sympathetic.

Even when I disagree with someone, I am called to treat them with love and respect.

He asks me to be compassionate.

Not prideful or rude, but humble.

Respecting others' views, even when I don't agree with them.

My Joy Is Complete

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. — Philippians 2:1-2

Tonight the moon was orange as I drove home from work.

The photo I took doesn't begin to do it justice.

By the time I got home it was white, but still very full.

Happy Friday the 13th.

We are encouraged by being united in Christ.

We are comforted by His love.

It helps us to become one in spirit and of one mind in the Lord.
