Present Your Requests to God

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. — Philippians 4:6

Today Abby and I will head over to Mother's Day tea at the Westgate Hotel.

Here's what our beautiful spread was like last year.

We had a fun time.

Listening to harp music.

Trying various flavors of tea.

Toasting each other with champagne.

And eating finger sandwiches, puff pastries and macarons.

Just spending time together was the best thing.

We are blessed.

Prayer and Petition

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. — Philippians 4:6

This is a tough verse to obey.

Of course, I don't want to be anxious, but the concerns of the day can be overwhelming.

Instead, I need to focus on God and His plan for my life.

Even when things seem uncertain and worrisome, He has it all in control.

I can't see the big picture, but He can.

When I put my trust in Him, I can sleep well at night.

I can relax and let His will be done in my life.

When I present my requests with Thanksgiving.

When I pray regularly and continually, I no longer need to worry.

In every situation, God asks me to talk to Him rather running various scenarios through my mind.

I am thankful.

Present Your Requests to God

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. — Philippians 4:6

Tonight we will host our fellowship group  — 6 to 8 of us in our courtyard for appetizers and Bible reading.

We have a very fun group of church friends, some of whom live close by.

Since we can't all worship together, it's awesome to have a time of fellowship and conversation each week.

After the appetizers, we take turns reading through the chapters of Philippians, which is what we are  going through in our sermon series.

Our pastor suggested we take turns reading the passages and listening to them.

Since God's word is living and active, I hear something new each time it is read.

His Holy Spirit works in us to help us understand God's Word.

Pray on All Occasions

Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. — Ephesians 6:18

We are praying for healing from cancer for our pastor, Jerry.

Today we heard that our friend Chela has a pain in her arm.

Her doctor gave her medicine and asked her to return if it's not better in 8-10 days.

We are praying for healing for her, too.

And we are praying for healing for another friend who has a very dry throat that nothing seems to help.

We are continually praying for our friends and family members.

God hears all kinds of prayers and requests from us, and He answers them.

Knowing this, we can keep on praying for all the Lord's people.

Be Anxious for Nothing

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. — Philippians 4:6

On Saturday afternoon during our women's retreat, Peggy spoke about putting on our fuzzy slippers and resting in the Lord.

I especially liked this verse from The Message:
Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God, above politics, above everything. — Psalm 46:10

She asked us to reflect on where we are striving today, and where we need to sink down, let drop, and relax.

She challenged us to seek the peace of God and find rest for our souls.

Be anxious for nothing.
