Watch Yourselves

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. — Galatians. 6:1

Yesterday was National Pie Day.

Here's the apple pie I made for Thanksgiving.

I'll be making it again this weekend.

Just as an apple pie cooling in the window used to tempt the children walking by,

God warns us not to be tempted.

And to restore others gently when they sin.

I hope someone will do that for me when I fall into temptation.

Guard my tongue and my actions Lord, that they will please You.

Watch Yourselves

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. — Galatians 6:1

That's a tough thing to hear.

God asks me to watch myself so I don't get caught up in temptation.

Sometimes when I point a finger at others, I completely miss what God's calling me to change.

Other times I get so caught up in myself that I completely miss what God's direction is for my life.

Ouch!

By Your Spirit, please restore me gently, Lord.

Encourage One Another

After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words. — 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18

During this time of anxiety and divisiveness, it's easy to get caught up in our own world.

I find myself defending my position and not listening to those who feel differently.

But God calls us to encourage each other.

Even if we disagree.

Especially with our enemies.

And to do it with His Word.

What a concept!

Help me, Lord, to obey You.
