God Heard My Prayer

Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me! — Psalm 66:20

We just returned from a long weekend away, relaxing on the beach and swimming in the pool.

It was a relaxing time with our family, away from the day-to-day rush of work.

Praise be to God, who has heard my prayer.

He has strengthened me so I could walk the mile down the beach for dinner and back.

He has not withheld his love from me.

He has blessed our family.

The True God

The Lord is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. — Jeremiah 10:10

Today Abby and I will take off from work so we can once again hit the beach before Kirk has to return to school.

Another gorgeous day in sunny southern California.

Here we are several years ago, enjoying the beach together.

I can't go in the ocean water yet, until my immune system bulks up a bit, but I'll enjoy a swim in the pool afterward.

The Lord has given us this beautiful day, and we are thankful.

He is the living God, our eternal king.

The Lord Is Great

No one is like you, O Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power. — Jeremiah 18:6

Our sweet neighbors invited Kirk and Abby over to swim a couple of days ago while I was at work.

They enjoyed the refreshing water and the chance to swim and cool off.

Some of our favorite memories are at the beach or in the pool.

Here are the Rogers' boys in Iowa on the dock at Lake Okoboji.

Today we will spend part of the day swimming, enjoying each other and the cool water God gives us.

No one is like you, O Lord.

You are great. Your name is mighty in power.

Hospitality

Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. — Romans 12:13

Rita and Gary were wonderful at practicing hospitality and making others feel welcome in their home.

It felt like family to enter their home or pool, even to new friends and neighbors and acquaintances.

Here's a photo from the summer of 2008 with Gary, Rita and the grandkids out by the pool.

One of our favorite places to be in the summer.

Thursday was chemo #4 for me. Just two more left. Everything went well. No pain, no nausea and out in 4 hours.

Thanking God and our friends for all of their prayers, support, meals and cards.
