All Flock and Herds

All flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. — Psalm 8:-8

God created all flocks and herds,

All the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky.

He created you and me.

The clouds in the sky and the sunsets.

Here's the view from Steve and Miki's back yard.

Nice!

Teach Me, Lord

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. — Psalm 143:10

It's not always easy to God's do will.

In fact, for me, it's rarely easy.

My daily prayer is for God to lead me on level ground and direct my paths.

Saturday our sweet neighbors brought me a wonderful new book that I finished reading last night.

It's called "Here's to You" and it's filled with quotes from a wide variety of people past and present.

How thoughtful and appreciated!

And they invited me to swim in their pool, which I did.

It was very refreshing on a hot day.

And it was good exercise to get me back in shape before I experience the exhaustion of radiation in a couple of weeks.

One of my favorite quotes (of many) from this book was on the page, "Here's to your spirit."

The quote is from Ashley Hodgeson, "Strength and courage aren't always measured in medals and victories, they are measured in the struggles they overcome. The strongest people aren't always the people who win, but the people who don't give up when they lose."

God is teaching me to slow down and do his will. And I am thankful.

God Is in His Temple

The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him. – Habakkuk 2:20

Wednesday when I met with the radiation doctor, she said it will be no problem for me to go in the water at the beach as long I don't have any open wounds.

Fantastic! I can hardly wait to get out the boogie boards.

Ditto for swimming pools.

After my four weeks of radiation, she recommends I take 4-5 days off.

So I've alerted my colleagues at work that I will be taking off some time off after the radiation ends.

I still haven't heard when that will start, and I probably won't know for a few more weeks.

In the meantime, I'll take a class to show me the facility and to learn what exactly the procedure will be.

I'll also meet my friend Mariley for lunch so she can share the details of her experience with me.

I am blessed.

God is in his temple, all's right with the world.

The Lord Is Great

No one is like you, O Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power. — Jeremiah 18:6

Our sweet neighbors invited Kirk and Abby over to swim a couple of days ago while I was at work.

They enjoyed the refreshing water and the chance to swim and cool off.

Some of our favorite memories are at the beach or in the pool.

Here are the Rogers' boys in Iowa on the dock at Lake Okoboji.

Today we will spend part of the day swimming, enjoying each other and the cool water God gives us.

No one is like you, O Lord.

You are great. Your name is mighty in power.

Sincere Love

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. — Romans 12:9-11

Our family is devoted to one another in love. We get mad and frustrated, exasperated, angry and petty, but we also apologize, forgive, and cling to what is good, with God's help.

We enjoy celebrating together and laughing.

Abby created this creative swimming pool cake year ago for Gary's birthday with people floating in inner tubes (made out of mini donuts).

Since his birthday was on December 17, Cameron put on his Santa hat for the occasion.

And Kirk wore his Christmas Hawaiian shirt.

A fun time with the family. Great memories.
