All People Will See God's Salvation

Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God’s salvation. — Luke 3:5-6

We are hiring a social media specialist at work.

But in this time of COVID-19, not too many people are ready to move to a new job.

We have received fewer applicants than usual.

Even so, I know God will provide us with just the right person.

So I am asking for His wisdom as we search.

The mountains we encounter in life will be made low.

God will provide us with a straight path and will guide us along the smooth road.

Eventually everyone will see His salvation in Jesus.

Prepare the Way for the Lord

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him
.'" — Luke 3:4-5

Isaiah's words of so long ago foretold of Jesus' birth.

John told his followers that Jesus would be coming.

John was sent to prepare the way.

He knew that Jesus was the Savior that He proclaimed.

We know that Jesus is our Savior, too.

Submit to the Lord

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. — Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord.

God commands us to trust Him.

To trust Him with all our heart.

It's hard not to lean on my own understanding.

God is showing me how to do that.

He is helping me to submit to Him in all my ways.

When I do, God will direct my paths.

He will make my paths straight.

God Has Called Me By Name

This is what the Lord says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
— Isaiah 43:1-2

Yesterday I was reading Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, and I was struck by his insight.

"If we keep true to God, God will take us through an ordeal that will bring us out into a better knowledge of Himself."

He continued, "If you will remain true to God, God will lead you straight through every barrier into the inner chamber of the knowledge of Himself.

But there is always this point of giving up our convictions and traditional beliefs."

It is really tough at times to give up my own beliefs and convictions and to rely completely on God.

I am blessed that God is patient with me. He has called me by name. I am His!
