Teach Me to Do Your Will

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. — Psalm 143:10

God's Word teaches me to do His will.

For He is my God.

May His good and holy Spirit lead me.

And keep my feet on level ground.

Here's the baby ring neck snake that crawled into our house yesterday.

We'd left the door open throughout the evening during dinner.

He knew a good place when he saw it.

Fortunately, Kyle spotted it and he and Kirk managed to get it into this bucket.

He released it safely into the wild.

God Will Wipe Every Tear From Their Eyes

The Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’ — Revelation 7:17

Jesus the Lamb will be our Shepherd.

He will lead us to springs of living water.

Jesus is our source of life.

God will wipe away every tear from our eyes.

And there will be no more crying or pain.

Lead Me in the Way Everlasting

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. — Psalm 139:23-24

Today I got the letter from my last mammogram that let me know that I'm cancer free.

This was my first one since I was diagnosed a year ago January.

I will have my final Herceptin IV next week.

God has held my hand during this time and given me the support I needed to get through it.

He has searched me and He knows my heart.

He is leading me in the way everlasting, even though I often fail him.

I am blessed.

The Peaceful Kingdom

The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them. — Isaiah 11:6

In this new year of 2020, we are thanking God for His promises.

We look forward to the time when God's peaceable kingdom will come to fruition.

The wolf will dwell with the lamb.

The leopard will lie down with the kid.

The calf, the lion and the fatling together.

And a little child will lead them.

While people often are unable to keep their promises, God always keeps His promises.

He never failed me yet.

Thank you, Lord, for the new year!

Who Is Understanding?

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. — James 3:13

From Abby's alma mater, Whitworth University, we received this beautiful prayer.

Thanksgiving:
Lord, you call us to follow; to turn away from our own selfish interests, and to be disciples and follow after You, even if the path is difficult to see. We are grateful that you lead us, even when it is in a direction that we would never have chosen for ourselves. Help us not to be so hesitant to follow, and to see with the eyes of faith.

Teach us to follow without fear, knowing that You are always with us, leading the way.
Amen.

I have my 12th radiation treatment today and will meet with my radiation doctor to make sure everything is going as planned.

So far no discomfort. I'm expecting some fatigue to kick in at the end of the week.

We are so thankful for the prayers that have sustained me well over the past nine months since my cancer diagnosis.

This prayer was such a perfect synopsis of our lives over this period and God's mercy.

I am grateful.

Teach Me, Lord

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. — Psalm 143:10

It's not always easy to God's do will.

In fact, for me, it's rarely easy.

My daily prayer is for God to lead me on level ground and direct my paths.

Saturday our sweet neighbors brought me a wonderful new book that I finished reading last night.

It's called "Here's to You" and it's filled with quotes from a wide variety of people past and present.

How thoughtful and appreciated!

And they invited me to swim in their pool, which I did.

It was very refreshing on a hot day.

And it was good exercise to get me back in shape before I experience the exhaustion of radiation in a couple of weeks.

One of my favorite quotes (of many) from this book was on the page, "Here's to your spirit."

The quote is from Ashley Hodgeson, "Strength and courage aren't always measured in medals and victories, they are measured in the struggles they overcome. The strongest people aren't always the people who win, but the people who don't give up when they lose."

God is teaching me to slow down and do his will. And I am thankful.

God Has Called Me By Name

This is what the Lord says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
— Isaiah 43:1-2

Yesterday I was reading Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, and I was struck by his insight.

"If we keep true to God, God will take us through an ordeal that will bring us out into a better knowledge of Himself."

He continued, "If you will remain true to God, God will lead you straight through every barrier into the inner chamber of the knowledge of Himself.

But there is always this point of giving up our convictions and traditional beliefs."

It is really tough at times to give up my own beliefs and convictions and to rely completely on God.

I am blessed that God is patient with me. He has called me by name. I am His!

God's Presence

My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest. — Exodus 33:14

God goes with us wherever we go. When we feel tired and downtrodden, worn and weary, He carries us through the day.

Even when we don't feel His presence, He is there to support us and lead and guide us the direction that is best.

This weekend, our women's group will retreat at the Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside.

We will take time to rest, relax, sing, laugh, study God's Word, and hear from others who are walking with God.

We will have some delicious meals, smell the roses, and go for long walks.

Thank you, God, for giving us times to rest.
