He Was Despised

He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. — Isaiah 53:3-4

This passage is talking about how Jesus was treated.

The Son of God, who gave His life for us.

And yet he was despised.

And rejected by mankind.

Suffering and familiar with pain and grief.

Even though He took on our pain, we hid our faces from Him.

We held Jesus in low esteem.

He bore our suffering.

And we despised Him.

Jesus, Our Cornerstone

So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic. — Isaiah 28:16

Rita, Kelly, Gary, Liz, Carol, Kirk Christmas Season 2009
This week we celebrate the life and legacy of our dad, Gary.

Next week will be anniversary of Mom Rita's death.

We are sad and miss them lots.

At the same time, we have wonderful memories and happy family moments with both of them.

We created this slideshow to be able share some of those memories with our family members and friends.

God has laid a precious cornerstone to give us a sure foundation in Jesus.

Even when we are sad and grieving, this foundation is our rock.

We will not be stricken with panic or desperation with Christ as our cornerstone.

Instead, we rejoice that Mom Rita and Dad Gary are in heaven with Jesus.

One day we will join them there.
