The Lord Made the Heavens and Earth

Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. — Jeremiah 32:17

God is Sovereign.

He is our Lord.

He created the heavens and the earth.

Nothing is too hard for Him.

He formed the heavens and earth by His great power and outstretched arm.

And He formed us, too.

He loves us even when we mess up.

Just as a Father loves His children.

There Is No One Like Our Lord

How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. — 2 Samuel 7:22

There is no one like our great God.

And there is no God but the Lord.

He is Sovereign.

We have heard with our own ears.

And seen with our own eyes.

That God is great and glorious!

Nothing Is Too Hard for God

Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. — Jeremiah 32:17

God is our Sovereign Lord.

He is our Creator.

By His great power, He has made the heavens.

With His outstretched arm, He has made the earth.

Nothing is too hard for Him.

He is Sovereign!

Simeon Sees the Messiah

When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation. — Luke 2:27-30a

Simeon praised God when he saw the baby Jesus in the temple.

He had been waiting for this day.

And He knew that this was no ordinary baby, but the Son of God.

Simeon recognized that Jesus was the Messiah as he took him in his arms.

And that God had sent Him to earth just as he had promised long ago.

Simeon was now ready to be with God in death.

He had now seen God's salvation and was thankful.

He was now at peace.

Those of us who k now Jesus are also at peace, no matter what comes our way.

How Great Are You, Lord

How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. — 2 Samuel 8:22

La Jolla Shores Beach

We have heard with our eyes and seen with our eyes that God is great.

He is Sovereign.

There is no one like Him.

And there is no God but the Lord.

How great you are, Sovereign Lord!

You Have Made the Heavens

Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. — Jeremiah 32:17

God has made the heavens and the earth.

By His great power and outstretched arm, He has created everything.

Nothing is too hard for the Lord.

He is Sovereign, omnipotent, and omniscient.

The Sovereign Lord Is My Strength

The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. — Habakkuk 3:19

La Jolla Shores Beach

God is my strength and my song.

In the midst of Covid, He protects me from infection.

Last week, a singer next to me during our rehearsal found out she had Covid.

Another one came down with it a few days ago.

I've tested negative so far with my at-home tests.

And I have no symptoms.

I took another Covid test yesterday morning at Kaiser, and I'm waiting for the results.

I should know more in a day or two.

In the meantime, I'm masking up and staying 6 feet away from people, not touching Abby or Kirk.

And I've been swimming every day except today.

God the sovereign Lord is my strength!

Your Salvation

Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel. — Luke 2:29-32

Simeon praised God with these words after he saw Jesus in the temple.

Praise be to God for sending His Son, Jesus!

On New Years Eve Abby and I walked along La Jolla Shores and marveled at God's goodness.

We were amazed by the beautiful sunset filling the sky above the water and the beach.

The dogs we saw were enjoying the evening, too.

And seagull just stood near the water taking it all in.

What a fun evening that displayed God's glory for all of us to see.

Quietness and Trust

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength. — Isaiah 30:15

Our salvation is in repentance.

And our relationship with God grows with rest.

Our strength is in quietness and trust in God.

This is what the Lord says.

He is the Holy One of Israel.

And He loves us.

We are still finishing up the beautiful cupcakes Abby made me for Mother's Day.

Yum.

Jesus, Our Cornerstone

So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic. — Isaiah 28:16

Rita, Kelly, Gary, Liz, Carol, Kirk Christmas Season 2009
This week we celebrate the life and legacy of our dad, Gary.

Next week will be anniversary of Mom Rita's death.

We are sad and miss them lots.

At the same time, we have wonderful memories and happy family moments with both of them.

We created this slideshow to be able share some of those memories with our family members and friends.

God has laid a precious cornerstone to give us a sure foundation in Jesus.

Even when we are sad and grieving, this foundation is our rock.

We will not be stricken with panic or desperation with Christ as our cornerstone.

Instead, we rejoice that Mom Rita and Dad Gary are in heaven with Jesus.

One day we will join them there.

God My Hope

For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth. From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb. — Psalm 71:5-6

Today Kirk took some photos of our roses.

They are very happy with the weather we've been having.

And they are opening and budding like crazy.

God is our Sovereign Lord.

I have relied on him from a very young age.

He brought me forth from my mother.

He has been my hope and my confidence.

God Looks After Us

This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered. — Ezekial 34:11-12

God looks after us.

Just as a shepherd looks after his scattered flock, God looks after me, his sheep.

God rescues me from all the places where I wander.

Here is our crape myrtle tree, blooming a bit later than usual.

Perhaps our hot and humid weather has confused it.
