I Will SIng of God's Strength

But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. — Psalm 59:16

It's now morning, and I'm singing of God's love.

He is my stronghold.

My fortress.

My refuge in times of anxiety.

My hope in times of trouble.

My strength.

And my song.

I Love You, Lord, My Strength

I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  — Psalm 18:1-2

Yesterday we hiked out to Cedar Creek Waterfall in Ramona.

What a beautiful day.

The waterfall was much fuller than it was two years ago when we hiked there in April.

And we waded across three streams.

But when we arrived, we were there with just a few other people.

Hiking out we ran into a large group of college students hiking in.

Thankfully we went early and had the waterfall almost to ourselves.

What a beautiful day!

I Will Sing of Your Strength

But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. — Psalm 59:16

Monday I took dinner to my coworker whose wife just had a baby.

And I made a chicken pot pie for our family, too.

Yum!

I will sing of God's strength.

In the morning I will sing of His love.

God is my fortress.

He is my refuge in times of trouble.

Nations Are in Uproar

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. — Psalm 42:6-7

This sounds like our world today.

Nations are in uproar.

Kingdoms fall.

God lifts His voice and the earth melts.

The Lord is Almighty.

And He is with us.

We are His.

And He is our fortress.

My God on Whom I Can Rely

You, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely. — Psalm 59:10

Yesterday I got to work at home.

Once a week now I can work at home, save on gas, and get lots more done without the commute.

Today we sent our baby pictures to our social committee at work.

Sounds like we'll have a baby photo contest to see if we can name the babies.

Mine will be fairly easy since it will probably be one of the few black & white ones.

Very fun idea.

God is the one on whom I rely.

He is my fortress.

I Will Sing of Your Strength

But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. — Psalm 59:16

Last night we went to a class on the Confessions of Augustine.

We are on Book 3.

It's a translation written by Sarah Ruden.

We had a good discussion about Augustine as a teenager, lamenting over the empty place in his heart.

And his mom praying for him with her tears.

Very similar to my mom praying for each of us her children, the week before she died.

I will sing of God's mercies and strength.

Today is Kyle's birthday!

In the morning I will sing of His love.

He is my fortress and my refuge.

The Lord Is Our Fortress

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. — Psalm 46:7

God is with us.

He promises to never leave us.

He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The God of Jacob is our strong rock.

He is our fortress.

God is the Lord, Almighty.

He is with us always.

God Is My Rock

Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. — Psalm 62:2

Yes, really.

God is my Rock.

He is my Salvation.

He is my Fortress.

And my Protector.

As long as I remember that, I will never be shaken.

When I'm shaken by the world around me.

By people I know getting sick from covid.

God is my Rock.

I will never be shaken when I turn to Him.

God Is Our Fortress

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. — Psalm 18:2

Here are the beautiful flowers we received while at Abby's graduation last weekend.

A thoughtful gift from Rick, Barry, and Aunt Jean.

Kelly went over to our house and took the arrangement inside so the flowers were greeting us when we arrived home.

Even during this time of sadness, we can be at peace with God's deep joy that passes all understanding.

We are thankful for all of our wonderful friends and family members.

God is our rock, our fortress, our deliverer, our salvation.

We are thankful!

Rest in God

Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. — Psalm 62:1-2

Little tufts of my hair are now starting to fall out. Usually just when I brush my hair or run my fingers through it.

Right now while I still have lots of hair left, I'm enjoying it. In a few days when it's gone, I'll start wearing my hats or wig.

I finished our taxes last week, and it turned out we owed $1512 in Federal Taxes and got a $1558 refund from the state.

So we came out ahead by $46. How awesome is that!
God is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

I Will Sing of God's Love

I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. — Psalm 59:16

I love to sing. This Psalm resonates with me, singing of God's love in the morning.

Saturday I got my hair cut and also had my hairdresser, Vito, trim the bangs on my wig just a bit. He graciously did not charge me for the appointment, so I'll bring him a bottle of wine to thank him.

Here's a picture of me in the wig, which I'll probably start wearing in a week or so, when my hair begins to fall out.

And now that my hair is shorter, I won't have as much left to fall out. When it does start to shed, Vito has said he'll be glad to give me a buzz cut, and he'll squeeze me in so I can take care of it as soon as I want or need to.

What a blessing to have such thoughtful friends who help me look and feel my best.

I will sing of God's strength, in the morning I will sing of His love!

God Is My Fortress

You are my strength, I watch for you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.
— Psalm 59:9-10

God is my strength. When I don't have the energy to keep going, God supports me and lifts me up.

When I'm ready to give up, God gives me a nudge to stay on the path and continue my walk with Him.

Those days when I don't take time to read His Word, He reminds me to slow down.

Throughout the day He calls me to talk with Him in prayer.

Thank you, Lord, for being my strength, even when I stray from your will. Forgive me for my wandering ways.

Thank you for guiding me through this journey, for providing the meds I need to avoid any nausea. For giving me loving family and friends who support me daily.

God, you are my fortress, the One on whom I can rely.
