This Is What the Lord Says

This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. — Isaiah 48:17

Today is our daughter's 25th birthday!

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since we had her just down the street at Kaiser.

She now has her masters degree and enjoys her job as an enrollment counselor.

Her college friend will be here in a couple of weeks to visit from Spokane.

And we're headed out to dinner at a French restaurant in Coronado to celebrate.

Her coworkers brought festive red velvet cupcakes for her at work this week.

And Kirk and I picked up this cute chocolate mousse cake at Flour Power.

Our friends brought us yellowtail tuna that he caught a few weeks ago.

God directs us in the way we should go and teaches us what is best for us.

We are blessed!

Do What God Says

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. — James 1:22

God calls us to listen to His Word.

But not just to listen.

If we only listen and do not act, we deceive ourselves.

Instead, God asks us to do what God's Word says.

To take action.

To obey God's commands.

And to be willing to get outside my own comfort zone.

And to rely on God instead of myself.

We Hear What God Says

Whoever belongs to God hears what God says.  — John 8:47

We belong to God.

He has adopted us as His children.

And He sent Jesus to die for our sins.

Jesus shed His blood as our living sacrifice.

Paying the price for our sins.

Thank. you, God, for your mercy on us.

Do What God's Word Says

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. — James 1:22

God asks us to not only listen to Scripture, but also to obey it.

He loves us and wants what is best for us.

We are His children, and he cares for us.

If we just listen to His Word and don't obey it, we are just pretending to follow God.

We are treating Him as if we don't really buy or believe what He tells us.

Obeying is not always easy; in fact, it can be very hard.

God can help me obey His Word when I stay in touch with him and ask Him to guide me.
