A Gentle Response

A gentle response turns away anger, but a harsh word stirs up wrath. — Proverbs 15:1

Sometimes it's difficult to give a gentle response when someone says something unkind or treats others badly.

I feel like lashing out instead of responding with gentleness.

In that moment, I just have to bite my tongue and ask God for wisdom.

So I don't blurt out the first thing that comes to mind,

And then regret it later when I end up with foot in mouth disease.

But God's Word is true.

A gentle response turns away wrath.

And the opposite is true.

A harsh word stirs up wrath.

Give me a gentle spirit today, Lord.

Salvation Through Jesus

God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. — 1 Thessalonians 5:9

Today we received these beautiful flowers from our friends.

What a wonderful surprise!

Ben and Susan sent them to thank us for hosting the weekly fellowship group at our house.

Their son Matt stopped by to deliver them.

Now they are gracing our table.

God did not appoint us to suffer wrath.

Rather, God appointed us to receive salvation through Jesus.

Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.

You Turned to God

They tell how you turned to God . . . to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath. — 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10

This week Aunt Jean turned 93!

Here she is three years ago celebrating her 90th.

How amazing is that.

My brother Tim called last night just to check in.

Last night some friends stopped by after our church service just to hang out and share some excellent.

We are blessed to have family and friends who care about us.

They tell us show they turned to God to serve Him with their lives.
